Brela originates from 14. century, when for the first time was mentioned the „Brolanenses“ on a charther by one famous nobleman, and it meant wellhead. This wellhead exist even today, and is one of main attractions you can find.

Brela is now famous all over the world as a peaceful oasis, pearl of a region called Makarska Riviera. So it is no wonder many tourist that come in Brela for the first time, fell in love instatly with this charming, little place.

First attempts of tourism in Brela began in 1930. World war II stopped the development of tourism, but after it was finished, Brela has grown rapidly.

If somebody ask you: „what are Brela famous for?“, first thing that comes to your mind would be „The Stone of Brela“. It is a stone that lies in the water, seperated from the land.

Also, american magazine Forbes in 2004. declared beach Punta Rata as the prettiest beach in Europe.

Brela offers you peacefullnes, but if you want to stay active and do something, you will find something that suits you. Rock climbing, snorkeling, sports such as tennis, bicylcling or just walking along the shore 6,5 km long are one of possibilites that Brela has to offer.

Locals are also proud for their gastronomy since they offer to the guest original products from this area such as olive oil, cherries, wine or fish. If you want to taste them, you can visit one of many restaurants located in Brela.
