For the first time, Makarska riviera is your choice for summer vacation? Many will agree with you that this is a great choice. Probably one of your friends, colleagues, or family members recommended this area as an ideal destination for relaxation and enjoyment. Or you may be hooked on beautiful photos that make you sigh and make you think, “I’m going there.” No matter what motivated you to take this step, you may need a little help before planning your trip.

Don’t worry. Here’s help. Through the following five steps, you will find it easier to decide which exact place on the Makarska Riviera to choose, where to find accommodation and other little tricks for the most relaxed holidays ever.

1.   Where to go?

Makarska Riviera stretches south of the city of Split for about 60 kilometers along the Adriatic coast. It includes places from Brela to Gradac, and the center is the town of Makarska. How to choose a spot for your vacation? First of all, think about how you envision the ideal vacation. If you are more of a type for a quieter holiday, relaxation on the beach, enjoying a walk.

If you want to quickly and easily get from your accommodation to the beach, restaurants and other facilities, then one of the smaller places is the right choice for you. If nightlife is important to you, you love the hustle and bustle and city rhythm; you will not go wrong with choosing Makarska. Whatever you choose, keep in mind that the Adriatic Highway connects all places, so you can easily visit the entire Riviera during your stay, explore the beaches in other places and/or go out in the nightlife in Makarska.

2.   Hotels or private accommodation?

Makarska Riviera has a long tourist tradition and almost a century of experience providing services to tourists worldwide. In many places on the Riviera, you can choose between different types of accommodation.

There are hotels of different categories and different types of private accommodation such as apartments, rooms, holiday homes, luxury villas. It is up to you to assess what suits you best and where you would feel more comfortable and choose some accommodations to make your vacation unforgettable.

3.   How to get to Makarska Riviera?

Makarska Riviera is an ideal destination for arriving in your car if this way of traveling suits you. Well connected by road, and you can reach the Riviera by the highway.

If you prefer the comfort of traveling by plane, very close is the airport in Split, which is just over an hour away. When you land in Split, you can rent a car at the airport to reach your destination, or you can opt for a taxi transfer. In either case, be sure to book the service you want in advance to be safe and worry-free on arrival.

4.   What to book in advance?

As already pointed out above, if you need a car rental or transfer from the airport upon arrival, it is better to book these services in advance. That is especially true for the high season. Many guests, especially those staying for a shorter period, decide in advance to book services such as excursions or dinners at restaurants.

Most information is available online, so it’s really not a bad idea to inquire in advance about options, schedules, and prices, so you have enough information and can plan your vacation and make the most of your time.

5.   Things to do on Makarska Riviera?

That is a question with a lot of answers. Indeed, when you arrive at the Makarska Riviera, there is a lot of activity and content that is fun and tempting. From the beautiful beaches, nature, cycling, hiking, attractive Skywalk, buggy safari, boat trips to nearby islands, trips to national parks or pearls like Dubrovnik and Split, really a variety of options are at your fingertips.
